49th Annual Conference: Photos and Videos from Minneapolis Now Available
The ASHE 49th Annual Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota, provided a space for scholars, practitioners, and leaders to connect and engage in discussions on higher education, centered around the theme ‘I Am A Scholar.’ Take a look back at some of the moments and memories below!

We’re pleased to share these highlights from the conference including:
- Opening Reception with DJ Carver the Great, a Minneapolis Native; as well as the "Celebrate Minneapolis/St. Paul: Black, Indigenous, and People of Color-Owned Business Marketplace" to celebrate the diversity of Minneapolis/St. Paul and its people, as well as enrich the conference experience and support local and community engagement.
- Plenary Panel "The Paradox of Minnesota Nice: Progression and Regression in the State’s Past and Present" featuring five local Twin Cities leaders in discussion about the structural forces behind racial disparities in Minnesota and the role of education researchers in finding solutions.
- Panel Discussion "A Conversation with Dr. Joan Morgan", an award-winning cultural critic, feminist author, Grammy-nominated songwriter, pioneering hip-hop journalist, and author of When Chickenheads Come Home to Roost: A Hip-Hop Feminist Breaks it Down.
- Exhibit and Discussion "Save the Boards": an non-profit organization founded by Kenda Zellner-Smith dedicated to preserving and protecting the plywood boards used to cover businesses during the protests following George Floyd's murder in 2020.
- "Paws and Relax: A Stress-Free Break with Certified Therapy Dogs and Cats" with local certified therapy animals, offering smiles and a relaxing pause from the busy conference.
- 23 Presidential, Program Committee Co-Chairs Featured Sessions, and Featured Sessions in addition to the over 200 paper; performance, visual, and digital scholarship; works in progress; poster; and interactive symposia sessions that were a part of the General Conference, Pre-Conferences, and Virtual Conference Day.
- Celebrating the ASHE 2024 Award Recipients in scholarly community.
