Professional Bio
Dr. Rosa Maria Acevedo is an assistant professor in the Department of Educational Foundations, Organizations, and Policy at the University of Pittsburgh and is positioned within the Higher Education Program. Dr. Acevedo’s scholarly research investigates how educational institutions can reduce the barriers marginalized students face in their quest for educational achievement. Her teaching interests include liberatory, equity-focused qualitative research and assessment methods, and educational policy development. As a practitioner, Dr. Acevedo has 20 years of leadership and project management experience spanning from K-12 to post-college for marginalized students, with a special focus on students with intersecting identities including ethnoracially minoritized, low-income, first-generation college students, and students with disabilities.
