Professional Bio
Di-Tu Dissassa, Ph.D. (she/her/hers) is a 2024 U.S. Fulbright Scholar at the University of Pretoria focusing on Black Women’s wellness at historically white universities. Dr. Dissassa's journey in higher education began at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC), where she earned her Master's degree in 2014. Following graduation, she gained practical experience working as a Hall Director at the University of Michigan. Her research includes exploring occupational wellness and trauma for higher education employees, professional identity development of Black women, healing of communities of color, and advancing research through critical phenomenology. Dr. Dissassa received her Ph.D. from the University of Maryland, College Park, in the Department of Higher Education, Student Affairs and International Education Policy.
