Professional Bio
Jason works from the lands of the Chitimacha. While Jason grew up on these lands, as with most places, there wasn't formal learning about the lands or the Chitimacha people. Jason is continuing to dive into his learning and is inspired by the continued connections to land and water that the Chitimacha have and continue to uphold.
As a first-generation high school graduate from a rural, working-class Louisiana family, Jason is not only committed to the transformational power of education but is an example of it. Within various roles and unique experiences in academia, student life, and alumni affairs coupled with leadership in non-profit and association management, Jason possesses a powerful and versatile skill set. This is further complemented by his doctorate in higher education with a focus on public policy from Florida State University, a perfect marriage of his master’s degree in student affairs administration from Texas A&M University, and a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Louisiana. Jason has garnered philanthropic support of more than $1 million, managed thousands of volunteers, and executed events ranging from five to 5,000 attendees. In 2021, Jason was recognized with the FSU College of Education young alumni award, the Trailblazer Award.
Jason serves on the ASAE: Center for Association Leadership Research Committee and previously served on the ASAE Small Staff Advisory and Ethics Committees. In 2020, he earned the Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation. The CAE Program serves to elevate professional standards, enhance individual performance, and designate those who have acquired and demonstrated knowledge essential to the practice of association management. The CAE Program is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA).
If you're ever in a virtual meeting with Jason, there's a high likelihood you'll see Fancy, his adopted three-year-old cat.
