Professional Bio
Alicia resides on the traditional homelands of the Myaamia and Shawnee people, which is currently SW Ohio. Serving ASHE as the Associate Director for Conference and Events is a culmination of Alicia’s years of experience in higher education at various institutions and in a variety of departments. Alicia started her career at Washington State University, where she began as an advisor for underrepresented students within Student Affairs, and was eventually tapped to direct a grant program for first generation students. While at WSU, Alicia earned her Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration while working full time.
From there, Alicia joined the career services team at the University of Virginia’s McIntire School of Commerce, where she worked up to the role of Associate Director for Career Development. Most recently, Alicia combined her experiences in student support and program development at Miami University, where she worked in Global Initiatives, teaching a diversity seminar, spearheading the development of an academic certificate in global readiness and overseeing departmental programming initiatives around intercultural development.
Alicia is committed to lifelong learning and recently completed a graduate certificate in Instructional Design and Education Technology from Miami University. She is excited to apply what she has learned to her role with ASHE, in addition to drawing from her undergraduate degree in Ethnic Studies from the University of Oregon.
Alicia is proud to be a part of an association that is built on scholarly work, draws strength from diversity and inclusion, while building a community of support for educators, practitioners and policymakers. When she’s not working, Alicia loves listening to music, podcasts, and spending time with her family. With three young children, Alicia can often be found acting out the latest Disney movies, pitching a baseball in the backyard, or sneaking away for a movie date with her partner, Tri.
